Volunteer Code of Ethics for Vancouver Kurdish Film Festival (VKFF)
Volunteer Code of Ethics (VKFF) (1) COMMITMENT TO THE MISSION Volunteers are expected to understand and support the VKFF’s mission and values, contributing to the festival’s success in a manner that reflects our commitment to celebrating Kurdish culture and cinema. (2) PROFESSIONALISM AND CONDUCT - Volunteers should act with professionalism, respect, and courtesy at all times. - Personal conduct should be in line with the VKFF’s standards, promoting a positive and respectful environment for all attendees and fellow volunteers. - Volunteers must adhere to the festival’s guidelines and procedures, and follow the direction of the festival coordinator. (3) CONFIDENTIALITY - Volunteers are required to maintain confidentiality regarding any sensitive information encountered during their involvement with the festival. This includes but is not limited to personal data of attendees, financial details, and organizational strategies. (4) NON-DISCRIMINATION - The VKFF is committed to providing an inclusive and respectful environment. Volunteers must not engage in or tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics. (5) CONFLICT OF INTEREST - Volunteers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may arise and avoid any actions that could compromise the integrity of their role or the festival’s operations. (6) HEALTH AND SAFETY - Volunteers are responsible for adhering to health and safety regulations and protocols. This includes reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the festival coordinator. (7) ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE USE - The use of alcohol or illegal substances is prohibited while volunteering. Volunteers must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during their service. (8) ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY - Volunteers should be punctual and reliable. If unable to attend a scheduled shift, volunteers must notify the festival coordinator as soon as possible. (9) TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT - Volunteers are expected to participate in any required training sessions and to stay informed about festival updates and changes. (10) RESPECT FOR PROPERTY - Volunteers must respect the property and equipment of the VKFF and its partners. Any damage or loss should be reported immediately. ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND AGREEMENT By volunteering with VKFF, individuals agree to adhere to this Code of Ethics and understand that failure to comply may result in dismissal from volunteer duties.
